Overview of Our Courses
Global Communication Course
The Global Communication Course offers a variety of English language classes each of which focuses on specific aspects of the language (i.e., listening & speaking, reading, and writing & grammar). These classes are taught by our faculty who are native speakers of English. This course not only helps students improve their English but also helps them develop a well-balanced cultural and linguistic perspective which is necessary for successful intercultural communication.
Students will study abroad in the second semester of their freshman year, yet can still graduate from Minami Kyushu Junior College in two years thanks to credits transferred from the overseas institution to MKJC. This course allows students to broaden their perspective, refine their way of life and thinking, as well as develop their inner self.
The Global Communication Course is best suited for:
- Those who are pursuing a career that requires proficiency in English.
- Those who wish to transfer to a four-year college/university and major in English or any field that requires the use of English.
- Those who wish to get involved in cultural exchange or learn about other cultures.
Business Career Course
The Business Career Course has a curriculum which allows students to choose classes of their choice from many offerings. The course offers both business-related and English language classes, and students can decide how many classes they will take from each field depending on their goal.
The Business Career Course is best suited for:
- Those who wish to take classes in a wide range of fields.
- Those who wish to earn a certificate that will be helpful in their future career.
- Those who wish to brush up on their English skills while acquiring practical business skills.
Office Information Course
The Office Information Course allows students to learn the basics of computer science and bookkeeping and prepare them for obtaining several difficult national certifications by providing individual tutoring.
The Office Information Course is best suited for:
- Those who wish to become a specialist in the computer field.
- Those who wish to obtain a business-related certification such as secretary or bookkeeper.
- Those who wish to acquire computer skills which can be used immediately.
- Those who wish to become an independent and responsible person.
Hotel and Tourism Course
Students in the Hotel and Tourism Course will aim at obtaining the national certificate(s) required to work in the travel industry while studying at Minami Kyushu Junior College. Students in this course will have an opportunity to experience working at some of the famous hotels in Miyazaki to get a first hands glimpse of what working in this industry will be like.
The Hotel and Tourism Course is best suited for:
- Those who wish to obtain the national certificate(s) required to work in the travel industry.
- Those who wish to work in the tourism industry.

Medical Clerk and Secretary Course
Students in the Medical Clerk and Secretary Course will aim at obtaining skills required to work as a medical clerk or medical secretary. Not only does this course offer a variety of information- and business-related classes which prepare them to perform general clerical work, but it also offers English language classes.
The Medical Clerk and Secretary Course is best suited for:
- Those who wish to become a medical receptionist or medical clerical worker.
- Those who wish to obtain the clerical certificates required to work in medical institutions.
- Those who wish to obtain general and basic office manners that can be applied to any kind of job.
- Those who wish to learn the correct usage of the Japanese polite and honorific expressions in business settings.
University Transfer Course
The University Transfer Course has a unique curriculum which is designed to prepare students for university transfer admission exams by giving each student careful guidance and precise advice.
The University Transfer Course is best suited for:
- Those who wish to transfer to a four-year college/university after studying at our junior college for two years.
- Those who need full support to pass the transfer admission exam.
- Those who wish to acquire the English skills that are essential to pass the transfer admission exam.
- Those who wish to prepare for the essay that is part of the transfer admission exam.
